Nothing is collected

Caret reads the text in the box you are typing in, checks it against a dictionary and a set of rules that live inside the extension, and draws underlines. All of that happens inside your browser, on your computer. The text is not stored, not logged, and not transmitted.

Your settings — the categories you switched off, the words you added, the sites you silenced — are kept in your browser's own extension storage on that computer. They do not sync and they are not readable by anyone else.

Caret can optionally ask Claude to proofread the field you are writing in. This is off unless you enable it and paste in your own Anthropic API key. With it on, the contents of that one field are sent to api.anthropic.com when a check runs, and Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy apply to that request. Nothing is sent to caretgrammar.com — this site has no server that could receive it.

Even with it enabled, password fields, anything that looks like a card number or a national ID, and anything key-shaped are never sent. Your API key is stored in your browser's extension storage and is used only to authenticate that request.

No analytics and no cookies. Fonts are served from this domain rather than a third party, so visiting these pages does not tell anyone else that you did.

If you send a problem report, the form gives me what you typed into it — the description, and the site name and e-mail address if you chose to add them. It is delivered by e-mail through Netlify, our host, and used only to fix the thing you reported.

When you uninstall Caret, the browser opens the report page with the version number in the address. That is the whole of it: no identifier, no history, and nothing is recorded unless you fill the form in and send it.
